You may or may not be familiar with Veggie Tales - oh so American children's cartoon series which is huge in the US, and tells Bible stories through the use of vegetables (guess you either love it or hate it!)... My take: great songs ('Where is my hairbrush' telling the story of Samson is fab!), creative way of engaging children with God, though sometimes a little overly moralistic (though that fits in with a lot of American christian culture, so it's not so jarring over there)... And I admit, though having no children of my own, to owning VT videos (obviously to use in youth/children's work...!)
Anyway, lots of debate going on in the US, where NBC (network that broadcasts VT) decided to censor/edit Veggie Tales, allegedly worried that the overtly Christian references are too much for a more sensitive audience... At the same time deciding to show, in full, Madonna's latest tour show, which includes a mock crucifixion (set To 'Live to Tell', which for those of you familiar with the song, seems to have nothing to do with crucifixion!)...
Trying to find a balanced article is hard, but best I could find was here and here (second one includes great quote from Eddie Gibbs)
